How to maintain a car? extensively ?

I'm getting a mustang with 180k. The only thing I know of is to change the oil every 3kmiles and check fluids. In the meanwhile ill be saving for a new engine. What are some things I could get done to the engine and transmission in the meanwhile to keep it nice
