Religion confuses me?

Basicly it just does. Some religions are sexist, racist and heterosexual. And they say that they're religion is the right one, yet I could put a catholic and Protestant in the same room and they could argue all day about the right way to worship God. I understand that religions are 50/50 and peaceful. But, it just confuses me. If were all equal and stuff why are people racist and stuff and treat others differently? And why do we have to have religious wars, why can't everyone just accept everyone else?
